FCC imposes USD 4 mln fine on Tele Circuit for slamming, cramming

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has imposed a fine of USD 4.4 million on Tele Circuit Network for switching consumers from their preferred carrier to Tele Circuit without permission (slamming) and adding unauthourised charges to consumer bills (cramming). The FCC said the actions especially harmed the elderly and infirm who, in some cases, were left without telephone service for extended periods of time while the company refused to reinstate service until the unauthourised charges were paid in full.
