Noida: City-based micro, small and medium scale enterprises (
MSME) have urged UP chief minister
Yogi Adityanath to prioritise
vaccination of factory workers in Gautam Budh Nagar. Some have also appealed to the CM that the vaccines be given to the workers for free.
“We have written to the chief minister, urging him to help vaccinate factory workers at the earliest because they are highly vulnerable to coronavirus
infection. They commute daily and then work in groups, we hope our requests will be heard,” said Manjula Mishra, president of Laghu Udyog Bharti (LUB), Gautam Budh Nagar.
A similar appeal has been made by the Indian Industries Association (IIA). “We have urged the state government to give
jabs free of cost to factory workers on the premises itself during work hours,” said Rajiv Bansal, national secretary of the Association.
Noida and
Greater Noida currently have almost 10,000
small-scale industries functioning, with a partial workforce as 20-25% migrant workers have returned to their home states of districts in the past few weeks.
“Entrepreneurs who are customer facing and working in business-to-customer (B2C) markets are facing more problems at this time than those in a business-to-business (B2B) set-up, though payments have slowed down and workflow and orders are affected at this time,” Mishra said.
However, MSMEs claimed that they have received assurances from the district administration that there will be no immediate lockdown in GB Nagar.
