Hyderabad: To do this, we are blessed to have had three international Test players over the years in addition to several other former cricketers who were selectors, coaches and administrators.
As a former first-class player who was a member of the three Ranji Trophy Championships, twice for Bombay and once from Hyderabad, I realized that winning a grueling championship of this quality requires careful preparation and with input that best available under our resources.
The good news is that Hyderabad has a history of winning the championship twice, except that it has always been among the top two or four teams. Another good news is that we have more than 200 club teams participating in various local tournaments organized by the Hyderabad Cricket Association. The most encouraging factor is that there are more than 100 coaching camps in the jurisdiction of the HCA that offer children five years and older the opportunity to play and learn cricket.
We have an international cricket stadium apart from an independent infrastructure to house the Hyderabad Cricket Academy of Excellence. This Academy operated for a period of time with several of our NCA trained coaches and senior cricketers.
All of the above are requirements and essential characteristics for any association to prepare and produce champion cricketers and to enable the representative teams to win championships.
The point that arises is that we have apparently forgotten what we have, as stated above, and are focused on other issues that are not relevant to the preparation of a champion team, which is presumably the most important issue of a cricket administration. I would also like to add to the points that emerge from the above statements that if we are to become winners of the Ranji Trophy Championship again, we must ensure that our resources used are in the hands of the best administrators, coaches, selectors and others. staff members who are sufficiently qualified to hold their posts.
I learned a useful lesson from my formal training and led it for many years through various commercial and social organizations. If your team is not functioning, even though all the resources are available, it is time to examine your leadership qualities before you want to pursue the people you manage.
I believe that Hyderabad has the ability to put together a champion team, provided we focus our attention on the preparation of the players to be done by the best available staff such as coaches, selectors and support staff.
