Telangana: Former MLA Ketiri Sai Reddy dies at 76

Hyderabad: The former constituency of the Huzurabad Assembly, MLA Ketiri Sai Reddy, died on Friday at 76 after a short illness.

Sai Reddy, who suffered from various health problems, died of a heart attack in his home on Friday morning.

Reddy’s family consists of his wife Pushpamala, sons Rajapratapa, Srikanth and daughter Chaitanya.

Reddy was born on January 15, 1945 in Jupaka, Huzurabad, Telangana. He holds an MA degree in Political Science from Osmania University. Sai Reddy was a UDC in Warangal’s subcontractor’s office. Later he resigned and completed LLB in Hyderabad.

He began his political career as the sarpanch of Jupaka and was unanimously elected in 1972.

In 1994 he contested the Kamalapur constituency and lost to Muddasani Damodar Reddy and again lost in 1999 to E Peddreddy Huzurabad.

Sai Reddy withdrew from active politics in 2009. Reddy, who joined the Telangana Praja Committee founded in 1967 by former Prime Minister Marri Chenna Reddy, played a key role in the separate Telangana movement of 1969. He was sentenced to six months in prison in the Warangal prison.
