Hyderabad: The fear of last year’s exclusion by Statewide haunted the migrant workers in Telangana. The migrant workers are leaving Hyderabad because they are afraid that the closure in the state will be reinstated this year. Their fears were exacerbated after the recent decision by the state government to set night time until 1 May.
The workers leave for their homeland using different means of transportation. On average, some lakh workers leave the train by train every day. The buses for public transport are also full of workers leaving the capital for their homeland. The outskirts of the city are being evacuated thanks to the fears. The migrant workers leave the city with their relatives.
The city has about 18 lakh migrant workers who are part of states like Karnataka Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Odisha, Chattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh. Of these, about 60 percent of the workers left the city a week ago. The remaining percentage of workers also plan to leave the city. The trains departing from Secunderabad, Nampally, Kacheguda are full of capacity.
The Satavahana expression between Secunderabad and Vijayawada, Godavari Express going from Secunderabad to Vizag and Gourami express going from the station to Kakinada, is crowded with passengers. The bookings in these trains are closed four to five days before the actual journey of the passengers. Most of the roads in the city carry an abandoned appearance due to the exodus of the inhabitants of the capital.
