Lucknow Police to escort oxygen tankers from Bokaro, Modinagar

Tankers leave city to bring liquid medical oxygen, on Thursday
LUCKNOW: Operational difficulties in transporting big tankers via goods train appeared following which Lucknow Police was roped in to escort the oxygen supplies to the city via road. A separate police team under DCP Traffic was formed on Thursday to bring the liquid medical oxygen (LMO).
DCP Traffic, Khyati Garg, said, “Difficulties arose when large trucks on goods trains touched Overhead Electric Line at some places and it was decided to bring them via road.”
“We have sent four trucks, one to Modinagar in Ghaziabad and three to Bokaro in Jharkhand,” said Garg. Two cops have been deployed in each truck for security and safety during the 750km journey from Bokaro to Lucknow and 470km travel from Modinagar said Garg.
A green corridor has been created for the quick movement of these trucks all along.
“We have also made efforts to ensure that the trucks are monitored from the district control room and are fully safe,” she added.
These four trucks are in addition to the six transported through goods train from the Charbagh station on Wednesday.
Lucknow police has also created a ‘green corridor’ around the city for movement of ambulances coming from Rae Bareli, Kanpur, Barabanki and Hardoi.
