Delhi: Covid claims 348 lives in last 24 hours, tally of active cases crosses 92,000-mark

While Delhi's daily tally of new confirmed cases of Covid-19 witnessed a slight decline, the infection claimed another 348 lives in the national capital on Friday. More than 23,000 patients recovered from coronavirus in Delhi in the last 24 hours.

Delhi on Friday reported its highest single-day tally of coronavirus deaths since the beginning of the pandemic. According to the health department, 348 patients succumbed to Covid-19 in Delhi in the last 24 hours compared to 306 on Thursday.

At 24,331, the national capital did witness a slight decrease in new confirmed cases. The figure was over 26,000 less than 24 hours ago. Positivity rate also declined to 32.43 per cent from 36.24 per cent on Thursday.

As many as 23,572 patients also recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours.

Delhi now has 92,029 active cases of Covid-19. This is the highest number of active cases of infection in the national capital since the beginning of the pandemic.

A total of 75,037 samples were tested for Covid-19 on Friday using 43,711 RT-PCR/True Nat tests and 31,326 Rapid antigen tests. Delhi has tested 1,66,31,245 samples for coronavirus to date.

There are now 48,502 individuals in home isolation across Delhi while the number of containment zones stands at 23,561.

According to the Delhi government's health department, 28,44,055 eligible recipients have been vaccinated in the national capital, including 67,424 in the last 24 hours. The figure includes 23,14,461 recipients who have received the first dose and 5,29,594 recipients who have been administered both doses of Covid-19 vaccines approved for emergency use in India.

Delhi has reported a total of 9,89,679 confirmed cases of Covid-19 to date. This includes 8,75,109 patients who have recovered and 13,541 who succumbed to the infection.

The case fatality rate (CFR) among Covid-19 patients in Delhi now stands at 1.38 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate is 5.9 per cent.
