Ensure 100% vaccination of all teachers, students: Telangana governor

HYDERABAD: Ensure 100 vaccination of teaching and non-teaching staff and encourage all the eligible students, who are above 18 years, to go for vaccination beginning May 1, said Telangana governor and chancellor to all state universities Tamilisai Soundararajan to all the higher education department authorities and state university vice-chancellors (VCs) on Friday.
Addressing a review meeting with all the higher education department authorities as the chancellor of all state universities, Soundararajan called for volunteers from educational institutions in creating awareness about the proper wearing of masks, maintaining social distance, and avoiding gatherings among all the sections of the people in their respective places.
“Though there is no need to panic, the situation is alarming. It is anguishing to know that at least 40 per cent of the Covid-19 patients are youth. There is an urgent need to create better awareness about the necessity for strict adherence to the preventive norms,” said Soundararajan.
She exhorted the VCs to encourage their students to launch social media campaigns and to come up with innovative ideas on the promotion of preventive norms and to encourage vaccination.
The Governor also reviewed the progress of online classes, online examination, online evaluation, results declaration, and preventive norms in place on campuses. She directed the VCs to expedite the networking and registration of all the alumni of their respective universities so as to utilise alumni services for the all-round development of the campuses and the benefit of existing students.
