GURUGRAM: With the alarming surge in the number of Covid-19 cases, laboratories in Gurugram are unable to keep pace with the testing demand. In the past few weeks, testing has been ramped up many fold but the demand for testing is much higher than what labs are being able to fulfil.
Majority of the private labs are receiving more than 2,000 Covid-19 test requests on an average daily, but are able to take only 500 each through home collection. As a result, many residents are being asked to wait four to five days for time slots.
Not just collection, the RT-PCR test results are getting delayed as well as the labs are swamped with samples. Private labs said due to the high demand, they may take up to 72 hours to give results.
