COIMBATORE: A man hacked his wife to death in a village in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu in the early hours of Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Saranya, 26, wife of N Lakshumaraj, 36, of Thondamuthur near Pollachi. Lakshumaraj is a farmer.
The couple got married six years ago. They have a five -year-old son.
Police said the woman had an extra marital affair with her husband's relative. The couple often fought with each other over the issue.
Around 3.45am on Friday, Lakshumaraj took a sickle and hacked his wife to death. Later, he surrendered before the Kottur police.
The body was sent to Pollachi Government Hospital for postmortem.
