Aurangabad, Apr 23 (UNI) Covid situation continues to remain grim in the eight districts of Marathwada region of Maharashtra as the region recorded highest 166 Covid fatalities and fresh 7,800 coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, according to the health authorities.
Details from all the district headquarters collected by UNI show that out of the eight districts of the region, Latur was the worst-affected, which recorded the highest number with 1,269 cases and 38 deaths, followed by, Nanded had 1099 cases and 27 deaths ,Aurangabad with 1458 new cases and 24 deaths, Beed 1145 had cases and 21 deaths, Parbhani had 1220 cases and 19 deaths,Osmanabad registered 719 cases and 21 deaths, Jalna registered 551 new cases and 10 deaths and Hingoli had 339 cases and 6 deaths.
Meanwhile, during the past 24 hours, 67,013 fresh cases of COVID-19 were recorded across the state, mounting the total number of infections to 40,94,840.
The state also registered 568 more deaths, taking the death toll to 62,479.
Meanwhile, a record 62,298 patients were recovered in the state, taking the total number of recoveries to 33,30,447.
The state's recovery rate currently stands at 81.34per cent and the fatality rate is 1.53 per cent.
At present, there are 6,99,858 active patients across the state undergoing treatment at different COVID-19 centres and hospitals, they added.
In view of the rising number of cases, the state government again imposed strict restrictions from 2000 hours tonight in the state till May 1 under the initiative of 'break the chain’, exempting emergency services.
