Kolkata, Apr 19 (UNI) Nineteen per cent of the candidates contesting in the eighth phase of West Bengal Assembly elections are crorepatis.
The West Bengal Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) have analysed the self-sworn affidavits of all 283 candidates, who are contesting in the eighth phase.
Out of the 283 candidates, 55(19%) are crorepatis.
Among the major parties 28(80%) out of 35 candidates analysed from AITC, 5(26%) out of 19 candidates analysed from INC, 12(34%) out of 35 candidates analysed from BJP and 1(10%) out of 10 candidates analysed from CPI(M) have declared assets valued more than Rs 1 crore.
The average of assets per candidate contesting in the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2021 Phase VIII is Rs 1.08 Crore.
Among major parties, the average assets per candidate for 35 AITC candidates analysed is Rs. 4.26 Crore, 35 BJP candidates analysed is Rs. 2.35 Crore, 19 INC candidates have average assets of Rs 1.20 Crore and 10 CPI(M) candidates have average assets worth Rs 77.34 Lacs.
There are 97(34%) candidates have declared liabilities in their affidavits.
A total of 22(8%) candidates have not declared their PAN details.
There are 152(54%) candidates have declared their educational qualifications to be between 5th and 12th standard while 127 (45%) candidates have declared having an educational qualification of graduate or above. 2 candidates have declared themselves to be just literates and 2 candidates are illiterate.
There are 81(29%) candidates have declared their age to be between 25 to 40 years while 158(56%) candidates have declared their age to be between 41 to 60 years. There are 44(16%) candidates who have declared their age to be between 61 to 80 years.
There are 35(12%) female candidates are contesting in the West Bengal assembly election 2021 Phase VIII.
