Hyderabad: The Insurance Regulation and Development Authority Insurance (IRDAI) has marked the issue that hospitals do not even meet the cashless claims Covid cases reached new highs.
In a circular issued on 22 April, he asked the various insurers to ensure that their hospitals, which were contracted to offer cashless claims, respected, among other things, the treatment of Covid incidents.
Irdai said hospitals that do not receive monetary policy insurance without cash should be brought to the attention of the insurance company concerned. It further instructed the insurance companies to take the necessary steps against the network providers as set out in the service level agreement.
Amit Chhabra, Chief Health Insurance, Policybazaar.com, said: ‘There may be cases of some hospitals not accepting cashless treatment at this stage. However, many hospitals still offer cashless treatments. This is beneficial for all parties involved – the hospital, the insurer and the policyholders. Insurers are still pushing for cashless treatments as prices are discounted. ”
“The recent guidelines from IRDAI will help the patients as well as the insurance companies. On the other hand, the hospitals are also experiencing tension due to the increase in the number of patients, ”he said.
Chhabra said many policyholders are looking for another insurance company. Higher coverage, lower premiums, the presence of selected hospitals in the network hospitals and fewer exclusions are the main reasons why people supervise. He added that transfer ensures that the old benefits and inclusions are transferred to the new policy. This contrasts with the situation of mandatory waiting periods for the new policies. It will also be necessary to undergo certain medical tests again in case of new policies, he said.
Many insurers have now introduced telemedicine – to determine the health status of policyholders telephonically or through a video call. On claims, he said that the rising number Covid cases are reflected in the increasing number of hospitalizations. The number increased in February and March, he said.
