Haryana: Covid vax thieves return doses with regret note

JIND: Nearly 12 hours after the 1,710 doses of Covishield and Covaxin were stolen from the storeroom of the Jind civil hospital, the bag of stolen vaccines along with an apology note was found at a tea stall outside the Jind Civil Lines Police Station on Thursday.
The thief, who left the bag at the tea staff expressed regret saying that he was not aware that these were vaccines.
ANM Sheela Rani, who was in-charge of the vaccine stocks, said the locks of the storeroom were broken and 1,270 Covishield vials and 440 of Covaxin were missing. A sweeper was the first to notice the broken locks on Thursday. The thief did not touch the other vaccines, laptop and Rs 50,000 in cash kept in the store.
Jind DSP Jitender Khatkar said the police have registered a case. It is suspected that the accused had taken away these vaccines mistaking them for Remdesivir as the anti-viral drug. is being sold in black in Haryana SMO opal Goyal said the vaccines would be destroyed.
