PUDUCHERRY: All liquor, arrack and toddy shops and bars, restaurants and hotels serving liquor have been directed to close by 2pm every day from April 26 to 30 to manage the spread of Covid-19 infection in Puducherry. Deputy commissioner (excise) T Sudhakar issued a circular in this regard on Thursday.
The circular also said liquor, arrack and toddy shops should remain closed from Friday night (10pm) to Monday morning (until the authorised time to open the shops). Sudhakar directed the liquor licence holders to adhere to the timings and comply with the directions.
“Any deviation will be viewed seriously, and appropriate action will be taken as per the Puducherry Excise Act, 1970, and the rules made thereunder,” he said.
