KALYAN: Even though the Kalyan-Dombivli municipal corporation is cracking down on people who walk around without wearing
masks every day to control the coronavirus cases, some citizens are still seen walking on streets and public places without wearing masks.
In the last 20 days (April 1 to April 20),
KDMC's flying squad with help of police have fined 2413 such people without masks and have collected fine of over Rs 12 lakh.
Madhavi Phofale, public relation officer of KDMC said, "On Wednesday our team also fined 126 persons without masks and fined Rs 63,000 in a day and KDMC would like to appeal to the citizens to be careful and wear masks while stepping outside home in case of essential work during lockdown".
The twin city is second worst city in Mumbai Metropolitan Region after Mumbai.
On Thursday, twin city reported new 1670 Covid-19 patients and 9 deaths taking the tally of patients 111606 including 1322 deaths so far.
On Thursdays, 1650 patients undergoing treatment have also got cured taking recovered patients numbers 96,003 while remaining 14,251active patients are still undergoing treatment.
