He joined the squad after testing negative for COVID-19. The development was confirmed by a tweet post by Delhi Capitals which showed him enjoying some light moments with the squad and express his happiness after seeing people back after days of isolation during the recovery period.
Patel spent nearly three weeks in a medical care facility in Mumbai. He is back to full fitness and participated in his first-team training session on Thursday.
The cricketer had originally joined DC camp on March 28 but he tested positive in his second report after joining the week-long mandatory quarantine. On April 3, DC announced that Axar Patel tested positive for COVID-19. He was immediately taken to medical care.

Axar Patel is the 4th player to recover from COVID-19 after testing positive for the virus. He joins RCB’s Devdutt Padikkal, Daniel Sams and Nitish Rana (KKR) on this list.
The BCCI’s standard operating procedure (SOP) says a player who tests positive for COVID-19 must isolate in the designated area outside the bio-secure environment for a minimum of 10 days from the first day of symptoms or the date of collection of the sample which resulted in a positive RT-PCR report, whichever is earlier.
“During the 10-day isolation, the individual must rest and avoid any exercises. The team doctor should regularly monitor the case. If symptoms worsen during the course of isolation, the individual must be hospitalised immediately,” the SOP states.
Patel is likely to be available for the upcoming DC’s fixture against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 25.
