MOHALI: The cyber cell of the Mohali police has received 38 complaints till now this year. Of these, five cases of fraud were registered at different police stations on Wednesday.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Satinder Singh advised the public, especially those who lost their jobs during the lockdown, to not come in contact with such fraudsters.
The SSP said they received five complaints at the five different police stations across the district on Wednesday.
The top cop explained the modus operandi of the accused and stated that they contact people through phone calls, text messages, WhatsApp, e-mail, and other social networking sites. They then ask for documents and later assure victims of government jobs by paying a little amount.
Following which they ask for more money and upon getting the desired amount, they then stop responding to people. The senior cops said, “The public is advised to not fall for government or private job frauds as the accused are targeting people, who have lost their jobs due to the lockdown.”
