Karnataka: Dakshina Kannada DC appeals to migrant labourers to stay back

MANGALURU: Even as the migrant labourers working in various construction sites and industries in Dakshina Kannada district were found rushing to their hometowns after new restrictions were imposed in the state in view of Covid-19 pandemic, the district administration has appealed them not to leave the region in panic.
Deputy commissioner Dr KV Rajendra appealed to migrant labourers not to leave the district.
He said a meeting of representatives from the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India (CREDAI), Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and contractors’ association was held on Thursday to discuss the issue.
“The district administration has directed all developers and contractors to take care of migrant labourers’ daily needs. Hence, they should not panic and leave the district. They should continue to work in the district,” the DC said.
