Srinagar, Apr 22 (UNI) Editor of an Urdu daily 'Jehadi Akbar' Muhammad Shafi Naqshbandi died after a brief illness here.
He was above 60.
His death has been mourned widely across a large section of Kashmir society.
The Executive Members of Jammu Kashmir Press Association (JKPA) held an emergency meeting today, chaired by GH Kaloo, and expressed deep grief and shock over his passing away. The members dwelt at length over his contribution to Urdu Journalism. All the participants present in the condolence meeting prayed for the departed soul and expressed complete solidarity with the members of the bereaved family.
Meanwhile, the members also expressed grief over the passing away of Maulana Wahiduddin Khan, who was an Islamic Scholar and had received the Demiurgus Peace International Award, under the patronage of late Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev and Padma Bushan in January 2000. He was a Journalist and author of many books. The members prayed for the departed soul.
