Jason Statham has said he hopes to make a return to the Fast and Furious franchise, and for his character Deckard Shaw to have a showdown with Han, played by Sung Kang.

Shaw was responsible for Han's apparent death back in 2006's The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, which was directed by Justin Lin. But although Han is making a return to the franchise in Lin's upcoming movie F9: The Fast Saga, Statham won't be part of it. He told Entertainment Weekly that both characters have unfinished business.

"They better bring me back, because I need to put out that fire," he said. "If he's got any score to settle, it's with me."

Statham made a small cameo at the end of Lin's Fast & Furious 6--where he is revealed to be Han's killer--and continued to play Shaw in Fast 7, The Fate of the Furious, and 2019's spin-off Hobbs and Shaw. Statham explained that he hoped to be able to work with Lin properly in a future movie.

"I'm game," he said. "I love Justin Lin, he's a great director. It's a shame because when I joined the franchise all those years back, he went on to do something else and all I did with Justin was a little tag at the end. I need to do a movie with him. And I'd love to see all the Fast crew, Vin [Diesel] and everybody, they're all great people. I have a lot of affection for them."

F9: The Fast Saga hits US theaters on June 25, although it will be released several weeks earlier in China and South Korea. It also stars John Cena, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Charlize Theron, and Helen Mirren. The latest trailer was released last week, and finally confirmed that the movie will take the franchise into space.

Lin is also set to direct both Fast 10 and Fast 11, which will be the final movies in the main series. Beyond that, there's a Hobbs & Shaw sequel in development, plus a spin-off with a female-led cast.
