The government has decided to operationalise the 200-bedded super-specialty block at Goa Medical College, Bambolim as COVID hospital latest by May10, 2021.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told the media that the bed capacity in COVID hospitals will be increased in next two-three days.
He also said that one mobile RTPCR van has been started at GMC and the number of mobile vans will be increased in coming days.
“The government will provide support of ventilators and Remdesivir on loan basis to the private hospitals. The three IAS officers have been appointed as nodal officers to oversee augmentation and strengthening of health care services in the state,” he said.
Sawant further added that home isolation system will be strengthened in collaboration with taluka level setup of Indian Medical Association.
He also ruled out reports of insufficient oxygen supply in the state for COVID patients.
“It is just rumors. Oxygen supply is sufficient. However, the efforts are being taken with the government of India for additional regular allocation of liquid medical oxygen in case of increased requirement,” he said.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that the government is going to ramp up the testing facilities.
“We have ordered five additional machines for COVID-19 testing. Once it is received testing capacity per day will increase to more than 5,000,” he said.
Rane also added that the backlog of 3000 to 4000 samples drawn for testing is pending.
