Now Rs 1000 fine for not wearing face mask

In a bid to crack down harder on those who violate the SOPs, the State Government has made the penalties stiffer for those who refuse to toe the line under the Epidemic Diseases Act.
Notably The Sangai Express in its editorial on April 16 had suggested that more hefty fines be imposed on those who violate the SOPs with impunity.
An official notice towards this has been issued and the amended penalties will now come into force.
As per the new rules, those moving around without face mask in public places will be fined Rs 1000 from the earlier Rs 500.Failure to maintain social distancing in public places will now attract a fine of Rs 400 and Rs 1000 fine will be imposed on those found spitting in public places.
Gathering in excess of authorised number of persons in ceremonies will now attract a fine of Rs 20,000 while consumption of Paan (Kwa) and tobacco in public places will draw a fine of Rs 400.Likewise those who violate quarantine guidelines will attract a fine of Rs 2,000 on each occasion.
Any other violations of guidelines will attract a fine of Rs 2000 .
