Monitor oxygen availability 24x7, ensure each hospital has 36 hr backup: UP CM

Lucknow, Apr 21(UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday directed the officers to ensure that each hospital has 36 hours oxygen backup and monitor its availability round the clock.

For this, a 24-hour state-level control room is being set up in the office of the Director-General, Medical Education and Training, where the officials will keep an eye over the oxygen supply and will review the availability of the stock on a daily basis.

All medical colleges, universities, and institutes in the state will be closely watched.

Not only will the oxygen supply be monitored from the control room, but any type of medical requirement will be urgently addressed.

While addressing a high-level meeting with the officials of Team-11, the Chief Minister here, while taking a detailed review of the current availability of oxygen in the state, asked the officials to access the demand, review the availability of medical oxygen and maintain its adequate supply on a daily basis to ensure synergy across hospitals and the state government. Each hospital should have a minimum of 36 hours of oxygen backup, he said.

The officials from the control room will update the latest information regarding the availability of oxygen on the Google Sheet four times a day. This sheet will also be shared with the hospitals where the executive of the particular hospital will update the status of oxygen.

With the help of this Google Sheet, the officials of the Control Room will be able to solve the crisis of oxygen on an immediate basis.

The control room will also contain the numbers of the drug controller and oxygen supplier firm, which will be shared with the respective medical colleges and institutions in case of any requirement.

To make sure there is no dearth of oxygen in any medical college and institution, Principal Secretary Medical Education, Alok Kumar, said here on Wednesday that Dr RC Gupta has been made the nodal officer at the directorate level.

The officer will make sure that the hospitals have oxygen with a backup of at least three days. He will be also monitoring the oxygen supply and its availability at least four times a day.

In case of any problem, the officer can immediately contact higher officials of the government so that enough oxygen cylinders and other medical equipment can be ensured in the hospitals on an immediate basis.
