Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not handling the covid situation well in the country. Priyanka Gandhi said PM needs to get off from the stages of election rallies and stop cracking jokes at times when the country is dealing with a huge pandemic.
Vadra said when people are screaming and crying for shortages of oxygen, medicines and hospital beds, the central leaders are seen laughing during their election rallies.
Vadra said PM needs to show up and tell the public how he is going to save the lives of people who are dying on daily basis due to novel coronavirus.
Attacking directly to the BJP-led government, Vadra said the country’s situation getting worse by each day passing but the BJP leaders are more concerned about power rather than public health.
Vadra criticised Central Government over poor medical infrastructure, she asked why India is facing a shortage of oxygen when the country one of the largest production capacity in the world. Gandhi said Central Government had 8-9 months (between first & second wave), their own Serosurveys indicated that a 2nd wave is coming, they ignored it and sent oxygen to other countries, Vadra added.
Vadra raised a question about 1.1 million doses of Remdesivir which were exported in the last 6 months and still the country facing a shortage of injection. Vadra said it is tragic that oxygen is available but not reaching the needy.
Vadra expressed displeasure over the government’s response to the letter of former PM Manmohan Singh to Modi. Vadra said Manmohan Singh was PM of India for 10 years, People know how dignified a person he is. If he’s giving his suggestions when the country is facing a huge pandemic, then suggestions should be accepted, Vadra said.
