In order to ramp up the coronavirus vaccination drive in the country, the Indian government on Monday announced a "liberalised and accelerated" Phase 3 strategy of Covid-19 vaccination from May 1. Now Serum Institute of India (SII), the world's largest vaccine producer, has announced a price of Rs 600 per dose for COVID vaccine supplies to private hospitals and Rs 400 per dose to state governments. The process of third phase of vaccination drive is going to be decentralised, unlike phases 1 and 2 as the Central government was distributing the vaccines to states according to their demand and infected population. Now in this upcoming phase, state governments can procure from the manufacturers directly.
