TCS plans to vaccinate employees via direct partnership with suppliers

Mumbai: Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. () is planning to give Covid-19 vaccines to employees and their family members through direct partnership with suppliers, in view of recent government guidelines for vaccinating everyone above the age of 18 years beginning May 1.

India's largest IT services firm has nearly half a million employees, a majority of them stationed in India.

“We have already been undertaking the vaccination drive for our eligible associates and their dependents, through our hospital tie-ups across locations. Taking into cognizance the recent directives of government, we are working out modalities of vaccination drive in direct partnership with suppliers,” a spokesperson for Tata Consultancy Services said.

TCS’ peers Ltd., Ltd. and Ltd. are organising vaccination camps on campuses across India, as part of their efforts to inoculate employees and their family members.

Indian IT services firms are among the largest private employers in the country. The top five Indian IT firms—TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Tech Mahindra and HCL Technologies—employ a total of 1.2 million people, or over a quarter of India's 4.6-million workforce. TCS is the largest employer with 488,649 professionals, followed by Infosys with 259,169 people and Wipro 197,712.
