Additional Sessions Judge, Margao Edgar P Fernandes has acquitted Filipe Mascarenhas from Mandop-Navelim, Pio Filomena Mathew Rodrigues from Dramapur and Santosh Naik from Vasco, who along with two others were charged by Margao police for wrongfully confining a boy in a flat at Moddi, Navelim, assaulting him, damaging household articles, assaulting his mother and further threatened to assault them with deadly weapons with chopper and glass pieces and taking away a gold mangalsutra and bracelet.
According to prosecution Shaikh Farook has lodged a complaint with Margao police alleging that Filipe Mascarenhas and Pio Filomena Mathew Rodrigues along with 12 to 15 unknown persons, forcefully entered into the flat situated on the ground floor of a building at Moddi, Navelim, where he, along with his family were residing on rental basis, wrongfully confined his son Shaikh Mohammed, damaged household articles, assaulted his son and took away a gold mangalsutra and bracelet of his wife. The prosecution examined 10 witnesses including PSI Ajit Umarye.
Public prosecutor D Korgaonkar appeared on behalf of the state while Rajiv Gomes and R Kudalkar appeared on behalf of the other accused.
