Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the death of the poet through social media posts. State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also expressed her condolences at the meeting.

Modi wrote, “People will remember Shri Sankh Ghosh for his contribution to Bengali and Indian literature. Many people have read and been fascinated by his work. I am deeply saddened by his death. My condolences to his family and friends. Peace be upon him.”

Speaking from the meeting, Mamata said, “Shankhababu has taught Bengali literature at Jadavpur, Delhi and Visva-Bharati University. He has been honored with many honors including the Rabindra Smriti Award. I had a very good relationship with Shankhababu. His death was an irreparable loss to the literary world.

By the way, Sankh Ghosh had been suffering from various problems due to old age for several months. In Corona’s days, treatment was at home. Corona was tested on April 11 for a slight fever.
