New Delhi, Apr 21 (UNI) The national capital on Wednesday reported a massive spike of 24,638 fresh cases of COVID-19 while 249 people lost their lives.
The new additions took the City's caseload to 9,30,179 and the death toll to 12,887.
The positivity rate in Delhi declined slightly to stand at 31.28 per cent from Tuesday's 32.82 per cent.
As many as 78,768 people were tested in the past day while 24,600 people were cured and discharged taking the total recoveries to 8,31,928.
Currently, there are 42,768 COVID patients under home isolation across the city. The number of active cases is 85,364 which includes patients under home isolation. Containment zones also rose to 19,624.
Meanwhile, the government vaccinated 49,461 people in the last 24 hours out of which 34,627 beneficiaries received the first dose while 14,834 were administered the second dose. Till now, cumulatively, 27,22,958 people have received a vaccine jab in the national capital.
The COVID situation has drastically deteriorated in the past few days. On the previous day, the Capital added 28,395 fresh cases while 277 more lives were lost.
