Maharashtra government has issued another set of restrictions that will be enforced across the state starting tomorrow. The restrictions will remain in effect from 8 am on Thursday till 7 am on May 1.
On Wednesday, Maharashtra reported over 67,000 new confirmed cases of infection and 568 more deaths. There are now 6.95 lakh active cases in the state.
Earlier this month, the Maharashtra government enforced restrictions to break the chain of transmission. Orders to restrict the operating hours of shops and markets were issued on Wednesday.

The Maharashtra government now says that the number of people engaged in the delivery of essential services should be minimised but can be extended up to 100 per cent as per the requirements.
Rules for offices
Rules for inter-city, inter-district movement
- With the exception of buses, only private transport vehicles engaged in essential services will only be allowed to operate at 50 per cent of seating capacity.
- Inter-district or inter-city travel has also been permitted in the case of medical emergencies, essential services and unavoidable circumstances such as sickness or death in the family.
- For private buses, operators have been asked to limit stoppages to two in a city while informing the local administration about the route of the buses. All passengers will be stamped on the hand and will be required to remain in home quarantine for 14 days.
- Violation of the rules will attract a fine of Rs 10,000.
- Only government employees, medical personnel, people in need of medical treatment or those accompanying them will be allowed to use modes of public transport.
- Buses operated by the state government or local bodies will be allowed to operate at 50 per cent capacity.
Rules for gatherings
Wedding ceremonies will be allowed only if the event is confined to a single hall with a maximum of 25 guests. A fine of Rs 50,000 will be levied on violators.
A time limit of two hours has been set for such gatherings.
