VARANASI: Muslim women performed aarti of Lord Ram on the occasion of Ram Navami at Lamahi village on Wednesday and prayed for the end of corona pandemic and the suffering caused by it.
The women associated with Muslim Mahila Foundation celebrated Ram Navami and prayed for the safety of humanity from coronavirus while following Covid protocols.
Setting an example of communal harmony, the members of Muslim Mahila Foundation have been celebrating Ram Navami for the last 14 years.
“Lord Ram is the saviour of humanity and so we prayed to him to save the world from the dreaded coronavirus,” said MMF president Nazneen Ansari. “Lord Ram had killed even demons and so we firmly believe that he will also eliminate coronavirus,” Ansari added. She also advised the people suffering from coronavirus infection to recite mantras of Lord Ram and Hanuman for quick recovery from the illness.
“The name of Shri Ram has great power to destroy ‘adharma’ and afflictions and develop a sense of brotherhood and social harmony. Reciting these mantras would generate positive energy,” she added.
“This time, only four office-bearers took part in the Ram Navami prayers and celebrations in view of Covid protocols,” she said
Nazneen, Nazma Parvin, Nagina Bano and Tabassum performed the aarti and offered prayers while maintaining social distancing.
Lord Ram is ‘Imam-e-Hind’ and is an inseparable part of the Indian culture. “We all are descendants of Shri Ram, who is the Lord of universe. Our ancestors had changed religion, but not culture,” said Nazneen, who has also scripted Durga Chalisa, Hanuman Chalisa and Ramcharitmanas in Urdu.
These women also celebrate Diwali and Raksha Bandhan. The tradition of Shri Ram aarti started in 2006 when the Sankat Mochan temple was rocked by terror blast and has continued since. Since then, Nazneen and other members of the group have been performing aarti and offering prayers on occasions of Hindu festivals.
