Why CSK chose Ruturaj Gaikwad in IPL 2021?

CSK relied on Ruturaj Gaikwad for opening in IPL 2021 after his promising batting performance in IPL 2020 (in Dubai). The right-handed batsman had scored 204 in 6 innings at an average of 51, which included three half-centuries.

The right-handed batsman is playing ahead of Robin Uthappa in the CSK lineup. He was transferred to MS Dhoni’s squad from Rajasthan Royals for Rs 3 crore ahead of IPL 2021 auction. The development came after their ace opening batsman Shane Watson announced retirement from all forms of cricket.
