South Africa have been drawn in the same pool as hosts Japan and Mexico in Group A of the Tokyo Olympics football tournament after Wednesday's draw.
The draw for both the men's and women's national teams taking part at the Tokyo Games took place at FIFA headquarters in Zurich.
SA's Under-23 men's team qualified for the rescheduled Olympics starting 23 July in November 2019 after beating Ghana on penalties in the Junior Nations Cup tournament that acted as a qualifier for the global showpiece.
Earlier this month head coach David Notoane named Percy Tau and other Bafana Bafana internationals in his preliminary SA Under-23 40-man squad for the tournament.
According to the draw, Japan will take on South Africa in the opening game.
Other African countries that qualified for the Olympics include Egypt and the Ivory Coast, which were drawn in Group C and Group D, respectively.
