Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced on Wednesday it had permanently cut ties with former employees Naasei Appiah and Ziyanda Nkuta after a drawn-out legal process came to a close by "amicable mutual agreement".

CSA dismissed former chief operating officer Appiah last August after nearly a year since the organisation suspended him in October 2019.

Appiah challenged his dismissal at the Labour Court, where the case has been tied up since.

In the intervening period, Appiah, alongside former CEO Thabang Moroe, was named in the Fundudzi Forensic Services report last year as having spent more than R265 000 on alcohol using the company credit card.

Appiah came out trying to discredit the Fundudzi auditors' findings, saying he was never consulted during their investigation and that the report was "biased".

CSA did not have an approved credit card policy at the time of the transactions.

Appiah was also involved in the failed payments to the South African Cricketers' Association (SACA) for money owed to players who participated in the defunct T20 competition, the Mzansi Super League.

The issue of non-payments to players was critical in CSA’s case against Moroe, who was sacked in August last year.

Meanwhile, Nkuta, who also acted as CSA chief finance officer for roughly two years, was suspended in December 2019 before she also legally challenged her removal from the organisation.

"CSA wishes to announce that it has recently concluded several legal matters with certain former staff members and service providers," a CSA statement said.

"The employment disputes involving Mr Naasei Appiah, CSA’s former Chief Operating Officer, and Ms Ziyanda Nkuta, CSA’s former Finance Manager, have been settled on the basis that the parties agreed that it was in the mutual interest of the parties to separate and move on. These two matters arose during the latter half of 2019."

CSA also terminated the service agreement with human resource service provider People Link (Pty) Limited after a process of mediation.

"All three matters were settled on amicable terms, and the parties have put these matters behind them and will be moving forward to pursue their respective interests," CSA added.

"As is usual in disputes of this nature, the terms of the settlement reached between the parties in all three cases are confidential. CSA wishes Mr Appiah, Ms Nkuta, and People Link well for their respective futures."
