Gurgaon: With the schools closed to stem the Covid surge, many students of the state-run schools — who were left out from the online examination through the Avsar app — stare at an uncertain future.
The notice of the education department has asked schools to upload the marks on the MIS portal by April 20 and release the results from Friday onwards. Starting April 23, the department will start releasing results of students of classes 1 to 8, 9, and 11. For this, it released a class-wise schedule of releasing results and asked the teachers to update the marks on the MIS portal latest by Tuesday evening.
Students who failed to log on to the online portals for the exams and did not turn up at schools for assistance are the ones to be receiving the short end of the stick. While the department had asked for the data of such students to contemplate alternative arrangements for them like offline exams, they will now be marked absent. The future of their promotion will be decided later by the department depending on the number of students who missed out on the online exams
“Majority of the students have managed to appear for the exams. Many without access to smartphones were encouraged to come to schools and there they were assisted by the teachers. Few, however, did not turn up. There could be many reasons for that including their wilful omission from the studies as they have remained out of school culture for over one year. Teachers won’t be failing them but only marking them absent as of now. Their status of promotion and whether or not they’ll be given another chance will be decided later,” said an education department official.
