The Museo Nacional del Prado launches its first Virtual Tour in Spanish and English

Thanks to Gigapixel Second Canvas technology, which offers the maximum image quality currently available for a virtual tour, virtual visitors can now explore the rooms of the exhibition Mythological Passions, an event that is benefiting from the sole sponsorship of Fundación BBVA.

In addition to enjoying a non-guided visit around the galleries and works, this Virtual Tour also offers a short Guided Tour led by Alejandro Vergara, one of the exhibition’s curators.

This virtual survey of mythological love through 29 works by the greatest figures of European painting offers a maximised, millimetric level of zoom for 7 of the paintings - Venus and a Musician and Danaë and the Shower of Gold by Titian; The Garden of Love, Diana and Callisto and The Three Graces by Rubens; Venus and Adonis by Veronese; and The Spinners by Velázquez - which shows far more than the human eye can see, including brushstrokes, craquelure, the artist’s signature, etc., as well as a short, text-based account of the works that provides interesting information about them.

This exceptional Gigapixel Virtual Tour is available on the Museo del Prado’s website in Spanish and English for 2.50 Euros, which is the same price as the audio guide that accompanies an on-site visit. At the same time, the website continues to offer all the information on this exhibition free of charge, including a presentation of it by its curators.

Mythological Passions becomes the first exhibition at the Museo del Prado to have its own virtual tour. Virtual visitors can now move around the galleries of the exhibition with the optimum level of image quality currently available for visits of this type thanks to Second Canvas’s Gigapixel technology, complemented by commentaries on the most significant details of some of the works.
