Demolition of bridge leading to Mt Koubru: 4 suspects picked up

At least four persons have been picked up in connection with the demolition of a bridge leading to Mount Koubru and the burning down of Chowkidar quarters of Sanamahi Laishang at Jangmol village near Koubru Leikha recently.
Manipur Police DIG Range (IV) Angam Kamei Romanas asserted this during a press briefing held this afternoon at Imphal West SP Office at Babupara.
Speaking to reporters, the DIG claimed that on the evening of April 14 last, the State police received information that a bridge leading to Mount Koubru under Gamnom Sapormeina police station of Kangpokpi district had been damaged by some unknown miscreants in the intervening night of April 13 and 14 last.
He further said that a suo-moto case under relevant section of the IPC & PDPP Act was registered for investigation.
Two suspects, namely Tongguoulen Kipgen (24) s/o Thangjang Kipgen of Saijang village and Paokai Boulom (29) s/o (L) Thangpu Boulsom of Ichaigojang village, Kangpokpi district, were arrested in connection with the case, he added.
He also informed that the two arrested persons have been produced before the Court of JMIC, Kangpokpi and remanded to police custody for four days with effect from April 17.Saying that the Police Department will not spare anyone and will take up appropriate action against anyone involved in the demolition, the DIG added that the investigation of the case is progressing.
About the fire incident at Chowkidar quarters, he said that the State police have arrested two suspects-Seiminlen Kipgen (32) and Seitinsat Kipgen (31), s/o (L) (L) Otkhothang Kipgen of Jangmol village in connection with the case.
He said that two arrested persons had also been produced before the Court of JMIC-Kangpokpi and remanded to police custody till April 20 .
He added that the investigation carried out so far could establish that the duo are the nephews of the Chowkidar who is best known as Koubru Yaima (Seiginlen) and the incident arose out of a family dispute and have no connection with religious or communal feud or motive.
Kangpokpi SP PG Singsit was also present at the press briefing.
