Losing track of the number of Apple subscriptions you’re juggling? An Apple One bundle could help you save some cash without stepping away from the Apple ecosystem.
The subscription service bundles up to six of Apple’s most popular apps into one, more affordable place. And, we’re hoping to see a seventh join its rankings tonight.
According to Peter Kafka of Vox Media (via Gizmodo), Apple could announce a paid version of its Podcasts app during its April Spring Loaded event. We also expect Apple to use this event to announce the iPad Pro 2021, AirTags and possibly an iMac 2021.
With six of its subscription mobile services already included in Apple One, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Podcasts Plus join the likes of Apple Fitness Plus, Apple TV Plus and Apple Music in an Apple One bundle.
But, what is Apple One? Read on to discover all you need to know about Apple’s all-in-one subscription plan.
What is Apple One?
Apple One is an all-in-one subscription plan that ties up to six of Apple’s most popular mobile services into one monthly payment. Services available through Apple One include Apple Music, Apple TV Plus, Apple Arcade, iCloud, Apple News Plus, and Apple Fitness Plus.
There are three plans to choose from: Individual, Family and Premier.
The Individual plan includes Apple Music, Apple TV Plus, Apple Arcade and 50GB of iCloud storage. This is the cheapest plan of the three at £14.95/$14.95/€14.95 a month and will save you £5.80/$6/€6 a month compared with subscribing to the four services separately.
The Family plan offers the same services as the Individual plan but with 200GB of iCloud. This plan is designed for families of up to six including yourself and costs £19.95/$19.95/€19.95 a month, making it a good choice if you’re looking to split your plan with others. You’ll also save £7.50/$8/€8 when compared with subscribing to the four apps separately.
Finally, there’s the Premier plan. This plan includes Apple Music, Apple TV Plus, Apple Arcade and a massive 2TB of iCloud storage. The Premier plan also includes Apple News Plus and Apple Fitness Plus and, like the Family plan, can be split with up to five other people (six including yourself). The Premier plan offers the biggest saving at £29.95/$29.95 a month, saving you £22/$25 a month compared with subscribing to the six apps separately.
Users on the Family and Premier plans can sign in with their own Apple ID too, meaning you’ll have private access to each service and personalised recommendations regardless of whether you’re sharing your account.
“Apple One makes enjoying Apple subscription services easier than ever, including Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, iCloud, and more”, said Apple’s senior VP of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue at the Apple event last September.
“With Apple One, you can access the best of Apple entertainment across all your favourite devices with one simple subscription”.
Is there a free Apple One trial?
Apple does offer a free trial for any services you haven’t already subscribed to. The trial lasts 30 days and after that you can choose to let it automatically renew on a monthly basis, or cancel the plan at any time.
You can see our guide on how to sign up to Apple One for more detailed steps registering for an account through your device.
Where is Apple One available?
Apple One is available in over 100 countries and regions. However, the Premier plan is only available in regions that support Apple News Plus and Apple Fitness Plus right now. These include Australia, Canada, the UK and the US.
To subscribe to Apple One, you’ll need an iPhone or iPod touch running iOS 14 or later, an iPad running iPadOS 14 or later, an Apple TV running tvOS 14 or later or a Mac running macOS Big Sur 11:1 or later. Apple Fitness Plus also requires an Apple Watch Series 3 or later.
Once subscribed, you’ll be able to access the six services across any platforms they’re available, including the web, select smart TVs, your Apple Watch, Android phone or other third-party streaming devices, depending on the service.
