IPL 2021 Orange Cap: DC’s Shikhar Dhawan leads Orange Cap leaderboard, MI’s Rohit Sharma enters top 5 list- Mumbai Indians Captain Rohit Sharma has broken into the top 5 list of Orange Cap table. He scored 44 off 30 runs against DC to go past the three-figure mark in IPL 2021. As for Shikhar Dhawan, with 231 runs, the Delhi Capitals opener extended his lead at the top.
A blistering fifty from Shikar Dhawan has taken him on top of Orange Cap leaderboard in IPL 2021. He completed his half-century off just 31 balls against Punjab Kings that included 8 boundaries. He had previously smashed an unbeaten 85 against CSK in his opening match in IPL 2021. He overtook Maxwell when he scored his 83rd run against PBKS. While he fell six runs short of his third fifty against Mumbai Indians, the 44-run knock was enough to keep his lead intact.
IPL 2021 Orange Cap: Glenn Maxwell in top 2
With a 49-ball 78 against Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Glenn Maxwell shot to be placed 2nd in the IPL Orange Cap leaderboard, surpassing Nitish Rana of KKR, who has scored 155 runs. Punjab Kings captain, KL Rahul, hit another half-century to jump to 4th spot, accumulating 157 runs in three matches in the Indian Premier League.
RCB’s AB de Villiers moved to the fifth spot with a brilliant 34-ball 76 against KKR on Sunday. Glenn Maxwell now has two half-centuries, taking his tally to 176 in three innings. He has scored those runs at an average of 58.66 with a strike rate of 149.15. It was AB de Villiers’ 2nd fifty of the tournament. He has scored 125 runs with an average of 62.50.
Rules for IPL Orange Cap
- The award is given to the leading run-scorer of the IPL season.
- The batsman with the most runs in the tournament during the season would wear the Orange Cap while in the field.
- In case of a tie, the batsman with a better strike rate is awarded the Orange Cap.
- The Orange Cap owner who is fielding is allowed to wear the Orange Cap till the end of the innings even if an opposition batsman has overtaken his runs.
