Mobile Premier League(MPL) has strengthened its portfolio with the latest acquisition of GamingMonk. It will allow MPL to establish itself in national, regional, and international esports market and broadcasting capabilities. GamingMonk is known for hosting online sports tournaments on gaming platforms including Personal Computer(PC), Consoles, and mobile phones.
How GamingMonk will Help MPL?
The online gaming industry is showing promising growth in recent years. MPL, an Esports and skill gaming platform, recently announced that it has acquired GamingMonk. It provides live streaming and content discovery related to virtual games. The company did not disclose the financial details.
As per the terms and conditions of the acquisition deal, MPL will be having to compete for control over the operations of GamingMonk. GamingMonk is a Delhi based online startup. It has a huge user base of around 1.3 million users.
How will GamingMonk help MPL? Answering this question, MPL CEO and co-founder said:
“GamingMonk will augment our efforts in reaching our target audience and engage with our users effectively. With the increased consumption of esports in the last couple of years and it becoming as competitive as any other sport, it gives us immense pleasure to present our users with the best of games to play, and enjoy their passion for gaming.”
With the latest acquisition statement, MPL has also announced Esports Arena. Under this new venture, MPL will introduce a platform to host different online games like chess, WCC, pool, etc.
MPL Plans for Coming Months
The startup will offer different rewards to the winners including a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh. Players entry will be free of cost. The firm will also broadcast the games on its social media channels.
In a recently concluded games on its platform, live stream has crossed 5 million views. More than 70000 gamers participated in these games. Chess grandmaster Vidit Gujrathi, along with famous gamers and streamers such as Jonathan Gaming, Gaming Guru, Soul Regaltos, and others were a part of these tournaments.
