Workshop for panel lawyers and para legal volunteers

A one day Workshop for panel lawyers and para legal volunteers was organized at the Conference Hall, ADR Building, Lamphelpat on 17th April, 2021. The programme was jointly organized by Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA), Department of Social Welfare, Government of Manipur and FXB India Suraksha.

The workshop aimed at highlighting and creating awareness on how to provide assistance to vulnerable adolescents, children & victims of trafficking of children and girls for sexual exploitation.

Shri Sorokhaibam Sadananda, Deputy Member Secretary, MASLSA moderated the technical session where he also highlighted the various activities undertaken by MASLSA and the challenges faced by legal functionaries in tackling the issues of providing and assisting vulnerable adolescents, children and victims of trafficking of children and girls for sexual exploitation

Shri K. Kabib, IPS, DIGP (Range-II) shared his experiences on cases related to human trafficking and child protection system in Manipur with special focus on the during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Smt. Sandhyarani Mangsatabam, Programme Officer, Social Welfare Department gave insights on “Child Protection System in Manipur: Issues and Challenges"; Shri Sunil Meitei, Project Officer FXB India Suraksha elaborated on “Phenomenon of Human Trafficking” and Shri Ch. Momon Singh, Advocate and Member, MASLSA spoke on “Protection of Children: A Legal Aid perspective”

A total of 40 participants which includes remand lawyers, panel lawyers and para legal volunteers participated at the said event. The programme was also streamed live on the official Facebook pages of Manipur State Legal Services Authority and KhutSem for wider outreach and coverage.
