Covid-19: Four more containment zones declared in Dakshina Kannada

MANGALURU: A private school, two houses and a convent in Dakshina Kannada district have been declared containment zones after more than five cases of Covid-19 were reported.
A private school near Kottara Chowki in the city was declared a containment zone on Monday after 19 persons tested positive for the virus. Meanwhile, a house at Kuloor in the city was also declared a containment zone after six of a family were found infected. The health department has already declared a house at Manchi village of Bantwal taluk after six of a family tested positive on Sunday.
Meanwhile, a convent in Mangaluru city was declared a containment zone on Saturday as 19 inmates have tested positive, said Dr Ashok H, district nodal officer for Covid-19.
A PU college in the city has cancelled its preparatory examination scheduled for its II PU students after some teaching faculties tested positive. Similarly, a school at Guthigaru village of Kadaba cancelled its preparatory examination scheduled for SSLC students after three of them tested positive. While three students at the school are in home isolation, tests have been conducted on all the other students. Their reports are expected on Tuesday, the official said.
The district recorded 218 fresh cases of coronavirus infection on Monday, taking the total number of active cases to 1,881.
