The profitable startups had been CarbonBuilt Inc., primarily based in California, and CarbonCure Applied sciences Inc., primarily based in Alberta, Canada. Every firm will obtain $7.5 million.

CarbonBuilt provides carbon dioxide into cement because it hardens to scale back its water utilization and carbon footprint. CarbonCure, as an alternative, converts the carbon dioxide emissions from the manufacturing crops for use to provide the cement.
