In a lengthy Instagram post, South Africa singer Tamara Dey said that she has been "in and out of hospital" since August 2020.

"Over the last 6 months I've been guilty of doing what so many of us do, being a little too good at hiding what we are going through," she said in the post.

"I've kept quiet about it because I'm not a person who likes to talk about my struggles publicly. I've always had way too much pride and never liked the idea of people seeing me down and out," she captioned a video, showing herself checking into the hospital.

"When I ended up back in the hospital this week for another surgery I decided I needed to talk about it," she shared with her followers.

About deciding to talk about her health on social media, she said she hoped it would give others the courage to be more open about their pain and struggles.

"We need to get better at being vulnerable and better at taking good care of ourselves and of each other," she said.

"What ever hardships you might be facing please don't struggle alone in silence, because you are not alone and you are very much loved," said the musician.

Updating her followers on her health, she said that she was "out of ICU and recovering well," adding: "I'll be back on stage in a few weeks."
