Covid-19: UP's Prayagraj has over 7,500 hotspot clusters

PRAYAGRAJ: After the city recorded over 11,000 Covid cases in a short span of five days, officials of health department and district administration are busy identifying new hotspot clusters.
The Sangam City has currently over 7,500 hotspot clusters. Additional chief medical officer and Nodal Officer, Dr Rishi Sahai told TOI, “The city has currently over 7,500 hotspot clusters. Till last week, officials of health department had categorised each house as a hotspot\containment zone, but now we have formed clusters of hotspots (houses coming under 25 metre radius as single cluster).
He said, “It will help health and district authorities to maintain a close eye on hotspot clusters and take corrective measures accordingly in terms of finding and treating fresh Covid cases in a particular area”. The cases have been galloping in the city, with 11,303 Covid positive cases reported in the past five days. Moreover, 2,416 Covid cases were detected on Sunday. Besides, April 17, 16,15 and 14 recorded 2436, 2236,2324 and 1891 cases respectively.
Health and district administration officials are monitoring all 7500 hotspotclusters, about 69% in urban pockets, to contain the spread of disease. Eight city localities including Hashimpur road, Preetam nagar, Lukerganj, Jhoolelal Nagar, Malaqraj, Madhwapur, Mumfordganj and Katra have maximum hot spots clusters. Sahai meanwhile, said department has collected 54,429 samples in past fivedays including 9120 (April 18), 11567 (April 17), 11969 ( April 16), 10960(April 15) and 10813 (April 14) and 11,303 of them were tested positive for Covid-19 infection.
Sahai said we have intensified collection of samples in identified hotspot clusters to contain the spread of virus. Health department has also planned to depute over 120 health teams across the district to test, trace and treat Covid patients. Currently, over 80 health teams were working for collection of samples, tracking and treating the patients.
