PRAYAGRAJ: The second wave of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic in Prayagraj district has forced the members and volunteers of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to switch to “e-shakhas” and “kutumb shakha”.
Till now, the organisation was holding shakhas in open grounds.
Under e-shakhas or Kutumb shakhas, members and volunteers along with their family members will be participating in shakhas from the terraces and gardens of their homes while following social distancing norms.
RSS had last year launched the concept of “kutumb (family) shakha” asking volunteers to hold the shakhas at their homes.
“After witnessing an unprecedented rise in Covid-19 cases in the Sangam City, senior RSS functionaries are all set to hold a meet on Tuesday regarding shakhas,” RSS prachar pramukh Murarji Tripathi told TOI.
“At a time when cases are rising and are being reported from urban, semi-urban and rural parts of the district, e-shakhas and kutumb shakhas are the only option to protect the volunteers,” he added.
Members and volunteers would be connecting through online video calling platforms while holding e-shakhas.
The use of a mask and sanitiser will be mandatory for every volunteer.
