3,500 Hyderabad Metro Water Board employees to get Covid-19 vaccine shots

HYDERABAD: Employees, age of 45 years above working in one of the major public utility departments, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB), will be vaccinated in a phased manner.
With the second spell of Covid-19 pandemic cases are in full rise in the Hyderabad, the minister for municipal administration and urban development (MA&UD), K Tarakarama Rao has directed the HMWS&SB managing director, M Dana Kishore, to ensure 100 percent vaccination to the employees and frontline warriors who are leading a key role in handling water and sewerage network.
As part of vaccination, the drive for the employees working in operation and maintenance (O&M) Divisions: 1 to 7, was kicked off on Monday at HMWS&SB’s circle office, Goshamahal.
The Water Board officials also decided to apart from 3,500 HMWS&SB employees, vaccination also be given to another 1,500, outsourcing staff are handling water bills, and also water and sewerage network in the city and Greater Hyderabad periphery, and up to ‘outer ring road’ (ORR).
According to the HMWS&SB official records, there are 2,000 employees, the age group above 45 years, are working at Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri and Sanga Reddy districts. “All these employees will get vaccination at the district medical and health department’s UPHCs concerned,” according to a senior HMWS&SB official.
