Women police in Mangaluru to work from home

MANGALURU: With increasing Covid-19 cases, Mangaluru police brass have given nearly 35 pregnant and lactating women police the option of working from home till April-end.
N Shashi Kumar, Mangaluru city police commissioner, said women in late stages of pregnancy and lactating mothers are exempted from coming to office or station. They can work from home till the end of the month, by when a decision will be taken to extend the facility depending on circumstances.
“The presence of women in headquarters will be confirmed daily. They are not supposed to leave the headquarters,” Kumar said. “In case of an emergency, they will be called back to work. The relaxation has been given based on the request by women officers and staff.”
DCP (law and order) said all women with children below two years of age and pregnant women have been identified and given the work from home option. Last year, Bengaluru police had taken up a similar initiative.
