HYDERABAD: The
Congress has demanded that chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao should ensure that the municipal polls scheduled to be held on April 30 are postponed in view of the alarming rise in Covid-19 positive cases in Telangana.

India Congress Committee spokesperson (AICC) Dasoju Sravan said even the high court has seriously warned the state government and observed whether ‘bar and beer’ shops are important or the lives of the people who are severely suffering from the virus.
While wishing CM KCR a fast recovery from Covid-19, Sravan demanded the government to declare a health emergency in Telangana and appoint doctors, nurses and para medical staff to strengthen the existing poor health infrastructure. The CM should include Coronavirus treatment in the Aarogyasri scheme.
At the same time, improving the health infrastructure as lack of even basic facilities like beds, oxygen, ventilators and medicines
Remdesevir, Vitamin C, Zinc and calcium tablets has become a serious cause of concern for the patients.
The AICC leader lamented that the Covid-19 vaccine is not available in the state although it’s being manufactured in Hyderabad.
Sravan questioned the hurriedness of KCR in conducting municipal elections despite there being another five month's time.
“At least 15 lakh voters will directly get impacted due to the municipal elections and indirectly risk over 60 lakh people. Holding elections at this juncture is not justified. Believing that Jana Reddy’s victory in Nagarjunasagar on May 2 might affect the election prospects elsewhere, KCR is rushing to complete elections by April 30,” Sravan alleged.
